Heaven

Through miles of mountains, roads, and fields
I long to be with you
The things you said still fill my head
Each day I play them through

Not a passing day goes by
No sunshine fills my day
I feel my heart was left behind
Or lost upon the way

I know I may not often tell you
How I feel inside
I’m thankful for your kind support
With ears I could confide

When I’m with you it feels like home
With volume set on low
Home cooked meals, cars to wash,
And long green grass to mow

The love you’ve shown me through the years
Will never be forgot
The times I spent with each of you
And all the food you bought

Thank you for your open arms
You really understand
The things that are of worth to me
My time with you was grand

Now that I must say goodbye
To start a life that’s new
Before I stray I’d like to say
How much that I love you

Grandma you have always been
A trusted friend to me
Supporting me with all your love
You give me strength to be

Grandpa you’re a funny man
Who cheers me when I’m sad
You’re not afraid to kick my butt
And scorn me when I’m bad

The things you teach me mean so much
The wisdom that you share
My heart is overwhelmed with joy
That my grandparents care

I’ll miss the laughter and the fun
I’ll miss the times alone
I’ll miss the good times that we had
I give you back your phone

As I depart no words can tell you
How I feel within
If Heaven’s where we’re loved the most
Then I’ve already been
