Deeply Rooted Love

I wish I could convince myself
That we should just be friends
But deep inside it’s hard to hide
The pain that never ends

Whenever I am close to you
My heart pounds like a drum
Your presence hits me like a shot
My arms and legs are num

A deeply rooted love for you
Is trapped inside my soul
Each day I go without your hand
The poison takes its toll

Your presence is a danger zone
And since I’ve crossed the line
There is no way that I can say
You’re just a friend of mine

Ever since I saw you girl
My heart began to race
I hear your voice ring through my ears
My life’s thrown out of place

Only when you’re close to me
Do I feel like I’m whole
I’m just a corpse of outer flesh
While you’re my inner soul

I feel like I’m a barren tree
Each time you’re not around
Your beauty has become my leaves
My roots with you are sound

Don’t just play a game with me
Don’t leave me in the cold
I need to know what’s on your mind
Before it’s time to fold

Reel me in or let me go
Don’t leave me on the line
If you’re not sure just how I feel
This note should be a sign
